Tips to Optimize Your Company's Social Media Profiles

Posted by Elyse Flynn Meyer | 2 Minutes to Read

Creating a social media strategy is not just about sharing content, but it's also about making sure your company's social media page is correctly branded for your business and optimized so people can connect with your organization.  Once you have selected your company’s social networks and which channels you will be most active on, you need to ensure you optimize your profiles to be found through keyword searches and provide content about your business for prospective followers. Here’s how to start optimizing your social presence to stay consistent with your brand:

  • Company Information
Have a consistent “About” section in each of your social networks. You can also add items such as location, hours of operation, awards, and more on some networks. Populate as much data as possible to give followers information about your brand directly on that social network. Always remember to include your website URL so you can drive traffic back to your website.
  • Profile Image
Use the same profile image on each of your social networks. Your profile image should be a circular image that visually connects with your logo. Using the same image on all networks will connect your brand across your social platforms, your website, and even your email, which will contribute to more brand consistency.
  • Cover Photo
Your social media cover photo is the horizontal image on the top of your social page. Most networks offer this as an option to visually explain your brand. Try to make this image consistent across all networks for branding purposes. This cover photo image should quickly capture the essence of your brand and your product or service offerings. Note: Facebook gives you the option to use this section for a video instead, so this is a great way to tell more about your brand story through the power of video.
  • Messaging
If the platform you're using gives an option for messaging, determine how you can manage that to connect with your audience. Many people use social media to get in touch with customer service or sales for a company on their social channels, like Facebook and using Messenger. Be sure you have this optimized so people can at least send a message and get a response from an actual human. It's essential to keep those lines of communication open.

Creating a social media strategy and building your social presence are essential to having a well-rounded digital marketing strategy. You must have a strategy that includes posting and sharing content, making sure that your profiles are fully optimized to showcase your brand and giving as much information about your company as possible on your social networks of choice.
